Taking it easy and a little exploring (days 31-36).
Once again catching up with family and friends from rugby days and even a close inspection of the new Brighton Rugby clubrooms. More war stories, but the club has done a great job with the new rooms now on the western side of the oval and a splendid balcony built a couple of metres lower than the main indoor space so views are not interrupted by those standing (& chatting - and yes, drinking) outside!
We had a day venturing back into the Hills to revisit the chocolate factory for some goodies and a drive around some more areas and down along the beach side on our way back. An interesting drive down Gorge Rd after calling into the Wildlife Park to organise a birthday present for our grand-daughter. One day was spent primarily in Strathalbyn visiting the antique stores where I was informed "several thngs have now been crossed off my list" - from which I conclude it was a successful visit!
Another day our daughter took us out for lunch in the Hills and we visited Waterfall Gully for a short walk up to the "first" falls. Chilly morning but clear and quite spectacular views and water falling given how dry it had been.

Not really the "first" falls ... |
 |
They were more spectacular. |
 |
No trolls under the bridge on the ascent! |

View from the top. |
Another day we revisited
Carrick Hill. We had visited earlier with the kids and grand kids and wandered around the grounds. This visit was so we could inspect the main building in its restored glory. Quite the residence and art collection. Definately worth a visit if you have not been there. The photos below offer some outside views (none from inside).

The cafe grounds looking west |

The young cafe magpie waiting ... |

The welcome water course |
The next 3 are a pair (young one and mum) of esatern rosellas seeking grain among the old farm machinery

The front - main entrance & garden |

The garden path out front (where photo above taken from) |

A pair of wandering pacific black ducks |

A rainbow lorikeet guarding access to its nest hole |
 |
The magpie (showing a more "full" white back patch these southern magpies have) |
 |
A front view through a sculptured window |
 |
A front view from insdie the hedge |
And finally on our walk back to the car, a pair of gluttonous rainbow lorikeets feasting on the fruit of a tree in the garden.
