We spent several hours with the grand kids in great park near their home in Casino. They have great fun on the BMX track, the skate park, fitness circuit machines, playgound equipment. There is also a walking track around the perimeter and this is what I was taking advantage of that allowed me to secure the wonderful close-up studies I am able to share in this post.
I have decided to simply label the individual photos without commentary because I believe they speak for themselves and offer plenty for you to admire and savour. If you don't ... well, I just refuse to believe that is possible 😀.

Grey butcherbird - set the context for the close-ups |
Looking right - butcher's hook in full sight! |
Checking left ... all clear breast. |
To be clear it's the grey butcherbird (no black breast) |
Crested pigeon in all its glory - such a subtle, yet gorgeous palette! |
A pair of grazing galahs |
A little ruffled and talking with a mouth full! |
A handsome pigepon pair - on alert |
Same handsome pair - more relaxed now. |
Another grazing pair of galahs |
Handsome galah - as close as I managed to getting a raised comb! |
And just to finish this post (and September 2020), a couple of shots of this eastern rosella as it had just emerged from its nesting hollow and was surveying its environment ... a spring sensation! This is in a friend's backyard nearer to home.
